【摘要】:Thisspecificationcoversthedesign,construction,andinstallationofintermediateportableflushdeckstanchions.Intermediatestanchionisdefinedasanystanchionthatisnotanendorcornerstanchion.Stanchionsshallbeusedoninteriorandexteriordecks,toprovidetemporaryprotectiontominimizethedangerofpersonnelfallingoverboardortoalowerlevelintheshipinareaswheretheinstallationofafixedsystemwouldinterferewithvesseloperations.Stanchionsmaybeusedwith3/8-in.(9.5-mm)galvanizedcloselinkchainorwireropelifelines9/16-in.(14-mm)topcourse,7/16-in.(11-mm)lowercourses.Thisspecificationcoversonlythestanchionsanddoesnotcoverrequirementsforthechainorwireropelinestobesupportedbythestanchion.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.
