【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusedtodeterminetheheatreleaserateandanumberofotherfire-test-responsecharacteristicsasaresultofexposinginsulatingmaterialscontainedinelectricaloropticalcablestoaprescribedheatingfluxintheconecalorimeterapparatus.Quantitativeheatreleasemeasurementsprovideinformationthatispotentiallyusefulfordesignofelectricaloropticalcables,andproductdevelopment.Heatreleasemeasurementsprovideusefulinformationforproductdevelopmentbygivingaquantitativemeasureofspecificchangesinfireperformancecausedbycomponentandcompositemodifications.Heatreleasedatafromthistestmethodwillnotbepredictiveofproductbehavioriftheproductwillnotspreadflameoveritssurfaceunderthefireexposureconditionsofinterest.Thefire-test-responsecharacteristicsdeterminedbythistestmethodareaffectedbythethicknessofthematerialusedastestspecimen,whetherasaplaqueorascoatingonawireorcable.Thediameterofthewireorcableusedwillalsoaffectthetestresults.Aradiantexposureisusedasanenergysourceforthistestmethod.Thistypeofsourcehasbeenusedforcomparisonwithheatreleaserateandflamespreadstudiesofinsulatingmaterialsconstructedintocableswhenburninginaverticalcabletrayconfiguration(TestMethodsD5424andD5537)(2-9).Nodefinitiverelationshipshavebeenestablished.Thevalueofheatreleaseratecorrespondingtothecriticallimitbetweenpropagatingcablefiresandnon-propagatingfiresisnotknown.Thistestmethoddoesnotdeterminethenetheatofcombustion.Ithasnotbeendemonstratedthatthistestmethodiscapableofpredictingtheresponseofelectricaloropticalfibercablesinafullscalefire.Inparticular,thistestmethoddoesnotaddresstheself-extinguishingcharacteristicsofthecablesinafullscalefire.1.1Thisisafire-test-responsestandard.1.2Severalfire-test-responsecharacteristics,includingthetimetosustainedflaming,heatreleaserate,totalheatreleased,effectiveheatofcombustion,andspecificextinctionarea;aremeasuredorcalculatedbythistestmethodataconstantradiantheatingflux.Forspecificlimitationsseealso5.7andSection6.1.3Thetestsareconductedbyburningtheelectricalinsulatingmaterialscontainedinelectricaloropticalfibercableswhenthecabletestspecimens,excludingaccessories,aresubjectedtoradiantheat.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityorregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionarystatements,seeSection7.1.6Thisstandardmeasuresanddescribestheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,productsorassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.7Firetestingisinherentlyhazardous.Adequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.
